Da Nang's nightlife is spread over three areas a short Grab ride apart: the Han River in the centre, the An Thuong lanes behind My Khe Beach, and the beachfront itself. What is on depends on the day of the week, so here it is, one night at a time.
The three areas
- The Han River and the Dragon Bridge
- The city side. Rooftop bars over the river (SKY36, Brilliant Top Bar, Nyx Lounge), Bamboo 2 Bar on Bach Dang for live sport, and the Dragon Bridge show at weekends. New Golden Pine, across the river on Tran Hung Dao, is the late club, open until 04:00.
- An Thuong
- A grid of small lanes a few minutes' walk back from My Khe Beach, with the city's biggest cluster of expat and backpacker bars: pubs, sports bars, open mics, pub quizzes and SAGA for techno.
- My Khe Beach
- Beach clubs on the sand along Vo Nguyen Giap, hotel rooftops above them, and The Roof on the third floor of 1A Vo Nguyen Giap, right over the beach.
Night by night
- Monday
- The quiet night. Pub quiz at Embassy Irish Sports Bar (20:00), karaoke at Q Bar (20:00), open mic at The Trip (20:30), and techno at SAGA. The Roof is open from 14:00; its DJ nights run Tuesday to Sunday.
- Tuesday
- Views at The Roof: Hip-Hop, RnB & Soul, 22:30 to 00:00, and 15% off Hennessy bottles. Ladies' nights at Blends Social Bar in An Thuong and at ADM Club in the city centre, both from 21:00.
- Wednesday
- Girls' Night Out at The Roof: free-flow wine 21:00 – 23:00 for all girls, with Hip-Hop, Afrobeat & RnB from 21:30 to 00:30. The sunset tables before it are the ones to book.
- Thursday
- Lovers & Friends at The Roof, Neo-Soul, RnB & Classics, 21:30 to 00:30. Pub quiz at The Workshop (20:00), open mic at 50Decibel (21:00).
- Friday
- The Dragon Bridge breathes fire and then water at 21:00. Friends After Dark at The Roof runs 21:00 to 01:00. Pub quiz at The Mad Den (20:00) and an acoustic open mic at Reality.
- Saturday
- The busiest night everywhere, so book or arrive early. Dragon Bridge at 21:00, and from 23:00 the Han River Bridge swings on its pillar for about an hour. Saturplay at The Roof, EDM, Hip-Hop, Jersey Club, RnB & Afrobeat, 21:00 to 01:00.
- Sunday
- Dragon Bridge at 21:00 and the bridge swing at 23:00. Pub quiz at Reality (20:00, 50K entry). Just Chill at The Roof winds the week down, 21:00 to 23:00.
Every night
- SAGA, An Thuong
- A different techno night every night of the week from 21:30, and open until 04:00.
- The Roof, My Khe Beach
- Open from 14:00 daily until 01:00, and until 02:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. House music in the afternoon, DJs Tuesday to Sunday. No cover charge.
Getting around
Grab is the easy way between the three areas. The beach to the Dragon Bridge is about 4 km, 10 to 20 minutes in evening traffic, and fares rise at peak times and in heavy rain. Save your hotel's address in Vietnamese as a screenshot for the driver.
The Dragon Bridge closes to traffic shortly before its 21:00 show, so cross the river before 20:45.
